Joshua Breazeale
Minister of Education and Children
I was born in Hickory, NC in 1982. I was an active member of First Baptist Church Hickory with my parents and younger brother until going to college. It was during my time as a youth at FBCH that I first began to feel a call to ministry. During those years I gained valuable experience as a leader and was fortunate to have several mentors who had a great impact and helped me grow spiritually.
In the fall of 2001 I began attending North Carolina State University. I graduated in December, 2005 with a BA in Communication with an Interpersonal concentration. While attending NC State I actively attended Forest Hills Baptist Church. During my years at NC State and Forest Hills, I felt a strong call from God to enter full time ministry.
Over the college spring break mission trip in March, 2002, I met my future wife, Jessica. We began dating in June of 2003 and were married in 2005. In May 2009 we were blessed with the birth of our first child, Jacob. In 2012 we welcomed our second son, Josiah. In 2015 our daughter Jaycee joined our familly.
During the summer of 2004 I had the opportunity to serve on staff at First Baptist Hickory as the Interim Youth Director. That summer provided yet another affirmation on my life that full time ministry was where God was leading me. In the fall of 2006 I began attending Campbell University Divinity School. I graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree with Languages and a Christian Education Concentration in May 2010. I joined the Oakmont staff as the Christian Education Intern in January 2009. In June 2010 I joined the Oakmont staff full time as Minister of Education.
As Minister of Education and Children I have the opportunity to help folks of all ages connect with a Sunday School class. In addition to our preschool and children Sunday School program I also organize Vacation Bible School and other children’s ministry activities and programs. I enjoy having the opportunity to partner with the Sunday School Council and the Children’s Ministry team as we serve together as the Body of Christ. If I can assist you in any way to connect with a Sunday School class or any of our children’s programs please let me know.
During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, and watching UNC football and basketball. My favorite places to vacation are the beach, the mountains, and the lake.
