History:  God's Oakmont Idea

Since its formation on April 26, 1964 by 42 visionary and dedicated charter members, the Oakmont church family has been committed to reaching people for Jesus Christ, helping them grow and center their spiritual life in him, and then sending them out for missions, ministry, and service in the Greenville community and around the world.

Building History

Oakmont purchased seven acres of land in 1965 on our current site on the outskirts of Greenville at that time. By October of 1967, Oakmont has built its first unit of 16,000 square feet of worship, classroom, office, and fellowship space. The church added an additional 16,000 square feet of fellowship, educational, and office space in 1993.   Oakmont completed in October 2003 a 28,000 square feet sanctuary addition that provides a 1,000 seat worship center, a music suite and handbell room, state of the art sound, lighting, projection, and television equipment, prayer garden, and other classroom space.   In 2007 Oakmont purchased Oakmont Square Apartments located adjacent to our property as a ministry hub.

Faithful financial giving by Oakmont members during six capital campaigns over a 20 year period of time has made possible our facility growth and development. Now, over 50 years after its formation, Oakmont is situated among a community of neighborhoods with surrounding retail, banking, governmental offices, and other businesses nearby.
